Inspired by naths excellent captures this year, and by my own urge this past couple of years to give it a go, has anyone really had a proper go in thu UK lure fishing for cats. If so what lures were you using and what does make a good cat lures. I have plenty of rubber Storm lures that I thought might be good, and I have a lovely Big S with a great rattle that I considered using. I think a rattle would be important but I would love to know your thoughts. I had success in India for the cats over there using spoons but would they work here?

I think the rattle and vibration would probably be more important than colour. I would start with something like a big S or perhaps a jointed rapala. A question for Nat, did you replace the trables for single hooks?

Hi dave yes i did mate i would never use trebles for cats

Hi carl i havnt experimted with diffrent lures i jus tried the lure i fought would work best (Spro BBZ1 blue black herring) and it worked so i stuck with it.I think the features to look for in lure is resembles a prey spceies in the venue you are fishing ie roach, looks realistic, creates lots of vibrations and can be fished at any depth.

good luck carl let me know how you get on atb Nath
