Now then lads, we are starting to head towards that point in the fishing year where we perhaps start to put away ther cat gear and get ready for the winter. So what are your targets for this winter? It may be a PB Pike or Zed, winter chub or simply to stop being a big girl and actually do some fishing between November and March! So what are you aiming to acheive this winter? i am gonna stick my neck on the line and go for a 20lb pike, double figure zander, and, last but not least, a winter catfish. Easy.
In all seriousness if i get any of these i will be more than happy.

My aim this winter is for you to cook breakfast one weekend lol, Seriously though mine will be pretty much the same as yours m8 although im setting my sights higher for a 30lb pike, as for Zander i would love to beat my pb of 15.8 , and a winter cat? well i aint bothered what it weighs, although i did have that 8lber out of Napton in March so i guess i have done that one so a dbl would be my aim, will have to do a bit of travelling this winter i think to try and reach our goal.
Oh and to catch a bleedin Barbel whilst with you ya jink

I'm going to do a bit of winter carp fishing me thinks - and have a few days / nights chasing zander - but I think carp will be the main target.

Had a break from the overnighters and done a few hours on the river last 2 days  - rod/net/small rucksack/flask & butties - its been a nice change - had a salmon , 2 flounder & a chub all on the worm today . Couldn't buy a bite yesterday though
Targets for the winter will be a first zander and to put more thought and effort into my piking . I have a couple of pike spots earmarked .

For me it's a late season barbel from the Thames, couldn't get oe in the summer but as it seems to be staying mild there is always a chance!

Then when it turns a bit colder, it'll be a 20lb pike from the Thames!

Fingers crossed!!! wink

Well here is the list:
6lb chub on the deadbait
Cod out of the humber from the shore
20lb river pike, been close plenty of times but never quite managed it
3lb perch from the canal, but thats just morning sessions spinning that I wil start in a week or two

Well I think thats about it for now, but I may be adding a couple more when I really think about it.

For myself its Pike all the way now, until April of next year. I will be out to beat my PB of 26Lbs 2ozs from the cold and bleak lakes of North Wales, with trips into Cheshire to fish a few waters. Hopefully my Pike season will be a bit more successful than my 1st season after Cats as I have yet to even have had a run from from one !!! Always next season smilesmile.

Flounders have been known to venture quite a long way up rivers, they certainly are quite happy in brackish water and seem to be comfortable even in fresh water.
