I wouldn't mind a session on Furnace lakes if any one fancies making up a trip sometime. Apparently if you book a min 24 hour session they will take your gear to the swim for free as well.

Ok lads we will have to get some dates together. I will ring the bailiff and find out what the form is as I have never fished there.

Hi guys

Right bit more info for anyone interested. They don't allow pre booking of swims and it is a very busy fishery. There are cats in 3 lakes the best being Roman lake which has cats up to 100 lb.
Live baiting is allowed (catch from the lake). £30 for 3 rods for 24 hours. No braided main lines.
They reckon best time to come is Sunday afternoon to get a swim when the weekend anglers are leaving.
The carp go to 50 lb in this lake also.

Sounds cool - i could do any days really with a little notice - do you know how many swims there are on the lake (roman) ? I can't find the info on their website - £30 is okay though - any suggestions as to what the winning tactics are ?

They told me on the phone that live bait is good tactic. My brother fishes there a lot for carp so I will ask him as he fishes for cats too but don't think he has tried there. I think bait boats are allowed as well.

i've seen a 76lber come out of roman. it was caught on fish oil injected roach dead bait!if you use halibut pellets you'll find the smalls will demolish it before the cats wake.i've heard through the grapevine down their that half a tin of luncheon works as well. there is quite a few kittens around the 10lb mark.one of the cleanest venues you'll ever go to. p.s you do get taken to the swim by quad and trailor! tight lines!!!
