Hi All,
Am thinking of spending a weekend on the Club Lake at Orchid. It will most likely be the weekend of the 14/15/16 or 21/22/23. Plan would be to go Friday pm to Sunday pm.
Anybody fancy joining me?
Also, if anybody has any helpful hints or tips it would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Adrian

Just a quick update.........
There is a match booked on the club lake on 22nd August, so it looks like the 14/15/16 August.
Apparently there is no need to book so the plan would be to turn up sometime Friday and fish through till Sunday.
Let me know if you want to join in. So far it's me, my dad and BigTrev.
SAS - any more thoughts on contacting them re: filming etc.
quick tip - get there early on friday - the place gets rammed.
Cheers for that. I might not be able to get there until after lunch, but hopefull that won't be a problem! Or if someone else can get there early and bag me a swim??
I will try and get there as early as I can but I cant promise owt. Have you any particular areas in mind yet ? Ive never been there before so it will all be new to me.
All new to me too! Am open to any info or assistance?!
Might try to get over there before to have a look around.
Only been there once myself and blanked. Its a bloody long walk round to club lake. marsh will carry your gear round for you in his pick up, i cant remember if he charges or not, i didnt bother and it bloody killed me. The lake is shaped like a spoon and the swims at the fat end are very popular, i think they are the best swims but aint to sure to be honest.
Club lake 15 lb Cat to Adrian
Club lake 26 lb Cat to Adrians Dad
Club lake 55 lb Cat (new record) to Trevor
I was hoping for a bit more than that???
Well we're off to Orchid tomorrow, the weather looks good, south westerly winds and I'm all ready for the off! Lets just hope that the moggies are on the feed!!!
So now for the report:
Arrived at the lake about 1.30 after being dropped off (glad we decided to pay for that, the walk would not have been fun). Whilst setting up, a chap called Andy in an adjacent swim landed a good 20lb cat, so things were looking good.
Later that evening my dad had a 15lb mudpig on a string of pellets, not the target but a good scrap all the same.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, the aforementioned Andy hooked into a larger fish thener handed the rod to my dad while he looked for his headtorch! He found it returned to the rod and landed a cat (known as Dent) at an all time high of 50lb 3oz. My Dad was quite relieved that he hadn't lost it in the few moments he had hold of the rod. It was a lovely looking fish and the biggest I've seen on the bank to date.
So things were really looking good now. Unfortunately that was pretty much it. During the nights we both had several dropped runs (you know the ones that are screaming until you get out of the bivvy and stand by the rod at which point it stops!).
I did try for a mudpig on one rod Sunday morning. Three 16mm pellets on a size 2. The result a screaming run and the fish landed.....................a snotty of <1 lb. The bait wasn't even in it's mouth! Oh well that's fishing!
Conclusion; a nice venue, well run and some friendly anglers. Well worth another visit. And hopefully next time the cats will be more active!!!
Nice report there Adrian
Cheers mate. Just a shame that I couldn't report more on my success but that's fishing!
Unlucky on the visit mate but sounds like you had a good laugh.
It was a good weekend and a nice lake.
Will try and get the photos of the 50 uploaded as it was such a nice fish.
