Hi All, just got back from an absolutley top session. Fished Yateley split for the first time and had a 45lber, which was a new PB and also another of 30lb. These were dwarved though by my fishing buddies Brian's fish of 60lb! This beat his PB by 38lb! Not a bad 48hrs at all
Now thats a fooking good session there Dave ............ dare I ask what bait ? and where abouts in the UK is Yately Split - is it a private lake ?
Hi chris, i can't tell you the bait coz i'm now in the secret squirrel club!! ![]()
Oh go on then.... all on liveys mate. my 45 was on roach and the 30 was on a skimmer. i think Bri 60 was on a roach as well. fished deads as well but just got dropped runs on them. They absolutley smashed into the lives. Coz the lake is shallow they just run and run, each one took 50 - 60 yards on line on the first run! As we were fishing about 40 yds out it meant hauling em back 100 yards! i'm still buzzing now mate.
Yately is in Hampshire, about 10 miles from Wokingham. It is one of the Cemex lakes. There a re a few lakes on the site, including the famous car park lake (big carp lake). the 2 lakes with cats in are Split and Match. Split can be fished on a season ticket, £99 for 3 rods if bought online, £120 otherwise, ticket runs june to march. A seperate Spring ticket is available March to June. It was my first time there and the lake is lovely. when i suss it out i will add some lake pics as well as the fish to the gallery.
Bloody hell this post reads like a bloody advertising feature!
Only downside is you can't use a baitboat on Yately so, unlike Bri, don't buy a cemex bait boat permit at £25!
Sorry didn't know I wasn't logged in.
Well done Dave, top result mate
& well done Bri on your monster as well
Cheers lads, Bri doesnt post on here Terry, but i'm sure you can catch him elsewere ![]()
.
You're right Ian, still buzzing, planning next weeks trip and keep looking at the photos! result on the 41 for you as well mate, shame about the other one - still, loads of time left yet this season.
How you doing Tel? much to report at all?
Well done dave, will get the pics posted on the gallery page as soon as I get a minute. Stop, its livey time!!!! lol
Indeed it is Karl, all the fish were caught 'properly' after all i'm a catter not a carp boy!!
Good Man! Man after my own heart, someone has read the baits page on the main site, lol. We need to hook up for a session mate and show the boiley brigade how its done! lol
Just out of curiosity mate, where are you hooking your liveys?
Well done Dave.
Just waiting for the rods for your weigh sling and I will get it in the post hopefully will be here in the morning.
I might join you for a session some time.on the split.
I just discovered a benefit of being the old codger on here lol
A years ticket for 3 rods on cemex is only £49.50 if your 60 LOL
Eric
I've only gotta wait 20 years for a cheap ticket!! Wohoo!!
Join me any time mate - can get you on as a guest but thats £40 for a weekend, so not much point. Looking forward to christening the new sling - i'll probably blank now for the rest of the season!! lol
Karl, all the baits were just hooked through the nose using a 6/0 Eagle Claw circle hook.
actually its £58 for 3 rods £49.50 for 2 must get down to spec savers lol
Still a good discount though.
Incidentaly, on a guest ticket you can only use 2 rods so £58 for 3 rods for the season is very good value.
Well done mate. Nice fish.
Was that the only one? many runs? Glad the sling was ok looks good in the picture lol.
Eric
Cheers mate, yes only fish and only run for me in 2 nights, my mate brain didnt have a sniff in 3 nights and Dave Johnson, one of the bailliffs, had a 29lber. The rain and drop in temp deffo slowed things down. Still i've had 3 fish for 105lb in 4 nights overall so can't grumble!
Ha fooking Ha its all the squinting at polyballs with starlights on em that does it. Thats why youve got big round eyes - boillie shaped!! lol
Cheers for the congrats anyway mate. I've been playing around with my weed rig in my head and i think i've got it sussed. will try a couple down there next time see if it helps the presentation.
