Has anyone had any success using birds for bait?
I have seen two adult mallards taken by cats in the last week or so and was trying to work out how to go about this.
I have tried day old chicks a few times fished either suspended off the bottom pop-up style or fished hard on the deck - the last time I had a lot of trouble from eels tugging at it but no cats ..
I am thinking about maybe presenting one on a dumbell but not too sure as to what would be the best way to present one as bait --
Any suggestions? anyone caught on birds before???

hmmm a nice fuffy dead chick poppesd up on the surface
Never really used them and just off the top of my head I would have thought hard on the deck or floated on the surface, its the natural places dead chicks would be for the cats to scavange.
tried again - nothing - not a touch, sniff or otherwise.
with the advent of plastic corn and other plastic baits for Carp fishing im going to try using my bath duck popped up on the surface.
That is so funny i nearly spat my tea over the laptop! pml!!!!
That's the funniest thing I've heard in a while!
Would it squeek if you got a take you think? lol.
If it did, it would save on the batteries for the delkims!!! ![]()
We joke but I have a dvd showing barbel taking pellets attached to blue rubber whale bath toy.
I will try that on the Thames this weekend!!! Still in search of those Thames barbel!
Plus if the cats ever wise up to poly balls could always use rubber ducks!! a cunning plan lol
Pineapple flavour yellow rubber ducks...........now there's a thought!!!
What about a wind up whale on the surface with a 2/0 on it?lol.
Now that's just being silly!
