Hi All
On our Pondwood session we tested a weigh sling that I have have been working on. It worked reasonably well but just needs a bit of tweeking.
The prototype will now be upgraded to eliminate one or two little niggles that the 2 Carl's and I identified .
It is 6feet long and 13 inches deep, fibre glass rods for reinforcement, will come in camo complete with its own bag, breaks down to approx 20 inches by 6 when packed away.
They will be hand made of heavy duty material with an easy clean lining fully water proof inside and out and weighs approx 2 1/2 pounds. Will have a zip at each end and open out flat.
For a sneak preview have a look at Carl's pics one of his 30's is lying on it.
It comfortably took Carls 37 3/4.
Its a good peice of kit in fact a guy at pondwood wanted to buy the prototype off us!
Mick the fishery owner has offered to promote them on his site as he thought they are safer way to weigh big cats keeping them nice and flat.
Once the new prototype has been tested they will be for sale cost around 50 quid plus postage at cost, if anyone is interested let me know. As they are hand made I will not have a stock of them so delivery will not by return post! I will have a better idea of firm delivery times once the prototype has been retested.

Eric
Cracking peice of kit, needs a couple of tiny modifications but apart from that spot on.
Any chance of 1 being ready before i go to France last week in July??
Can always call it field testing!!
hi eric id be interested in one as am looking for a new weigh sling
Hi Boys
Will be a few weeks as don't want to sell any until we know their right. We used one at pondwood the other day (the prototype) It worked perfectly on the smaller cats but had a balance problem with the 37 lb fish so have tp iron that out also upgrading the closure.
Will try and get one for you if at all possible Dave.
They will all be hand made here in England not China! I think you will be pleased when you see them, we had a guy at pondwood wanted to buy the prototype so that was encouraging and the fishery owner wants to push them too.
Will post some pics of the prototype so you can see what is on offer.
Eric
Cheers Eric. let me know how you get on. I need a new sling before i go so if ready in time i will deffo have one.
Just a thought guys, is it possible to offset the handles to take account of the fact that all a cats weight is at the head end? i have found that sometimes the sling can tilt abit due to this, but it could be eliminated by offset handles.
Thats exactly what we are working on dave.Getting the balance of the handles right
Eric
H Dave,
Ok modifications have been made and it is back out for field testing so is looking good for you getting one for France as long as there are no problems with the mods.
Think we have solved the balance problem by extending the handles so now you can move the hook on the scales towards the front or back to balance out the fish. Putting the handle further forward didn't work..
Eric
