Well, Karl and and I have just come back from a fab 24 hour session at pondwood -
Eric - thanks ever so for the entertainment, the brilliant conversation and the gillie services - i promise that I'm buying a new landing net tomorrow - - sod the expense - i've had one dipping too many now - I may even give the bloody thing a vikings funeral (or pop it on ebay with a health warning). - 52" Nash landing net for sale !!!
We had fab weather - 25 degrees yesterday afternoon - still the pond produced - we saw 3 cats caught during the afternoon - including a perfect little 2lber for a chap called steve who was desperate to catch his first cat - eric pointed him towards a decent swim and Karl provided a cat size hook.
whilst a tiny venue with potential for overcrowding - mid week it was ace - 8 of us fishing through the night that gave us all plenty of space - and a great atmosphere - Mick made us very welcome and is fairly unique I think as fisheries managers go.
Fish were active on the surface, on the bottom and the one hook, one bait and no loose feed is nothing to be scared of ... mind you the cats have the biggest teeth that I have seen - true predators -- and fiesty with it.
Its certainly boosted my seasons catches and our glorious leader even managed to get himself an excuse to shave his bonce (at last!!!!!) - eh up mel - Astrid did metion your concern (ha ha).
Anyway a few pics - for me 37lb 4oz, 30lb 2oz, 15lb 3 oz & 9lb 14oz
popped on a photo of Karl's 15lber
And I managed to get my first cat off the top after I managed to over ride the auto PMSL
What a fantastic trip. If anyone gets the chance to fish with Eric, what a top bloke. I must admit we were slightly concerned by the single bait rule, but my god we were proved wrong. What a venue, ansd yes I finally got of the mark with an eleven and a half and a fifteen plus. All fish that were caught were in fantastic condition, real predators. The action was unbeleivable. At one point in the evening, while having chinese we got disturbed three times, it was a run for one of us every twenty mins. As well as the fish caught we bumped out of as many, and struck into nothing on as many runs again. I cannot reccommend this venue enough. What a place.
It's just a pity you guys live so far away as I enjoyed every minute of our session and it would be great to do it again.
I told you we would catch and I wouldn't sell you a bum steer lol
It's just a case of getting the call perfected then its amazing what a high catch rate you can get once you get that mating call right ain't it?
Eric
Sounds like a class venue - well done lads
If you are going to try this place though remember to take your liscence with you, we got checked on the bank and one of us, not mentioning any names, carl, lol, had left his on the coffee table. He ended up with an official caution as the system was down and they could not check. We ended up in fit of laughter. Naughty boy, lol.
Rotten really isn't it "chuckle chuckle PMSL"
it was funny listening to Carl spluttering and protesting his innocence lol
Eric
isn't it strange how some people find someone elses missfortune funny?

Sounds like you boys had a top session. Well done for getting off the mark for the season Karl.
Hi Guys,
Good to meet up with you guys on Wednesday. Karls 37 was a lovely fish and the biggest I've seen on the bank at Pondwood.
Be good to catch up on the bank sometime soon and hopefully for a bit longer!
Well done lads, sounds like you had a hoot of a time.

Would love to come down again but am running out of weekends, with the filming and so on. So many places, so little time. Am working on it though adrian.
