I know there is ages to go before the offski (a year) but I am sure a few of us will be asking ourselves the same sort of questions ............ so here are mine
Anyone how many rods can be used there ?
Are 3lb test curve rods enough ?
Do you think Shimano 8000GTE-C reels will be up to it ?
Any recommendations for some new braid (if braid can be used) ?
Would a purchase of a bait boat help ?
I think thats about it for now
i managed to get a website for them and it looks like any of the other french venues
whats the betting this thread will be the biggest on here in a few weeks time lol
Hi
4 rods and 3 lb is ample and so are your reels I use 5000's and have had some big cats on them..
Its only 6 acres so probably won't need a bait boat.
Its a runs water so should be a good week.
If you are buying braid stay away from micro braid and buy the best you can afford go up a bit on breaking strain ie if you want 20 buy 24 as they are notorious for over stating breaking strains on braid.
Eric
try this www.milinderuchec.com
That was me ..................... though I was logged on
whiplash is supposed to be a good braid m8
am only taking my soniks an st 10000's they should handle most things in there.
Yeah I was just double checking the gear will be adequate before I got latched into the 120lb cat in France (here's hoping).
My only problem now is that I have 3 3lb test curve Chub Outkast rods and 3 2.75ln test curve rods - looks like Iam going to have to get another 3lb'er ..................... shhhhh don't tell the wife.
Gonna ask at the local tackle shop which braids they recommend then check with you lot (and the CCG mob).
Hi Guys,
Just to let you know that I will be contacting Kev in the near future to get the details on our prize. As soon as I get some info I will post it on here.
Chris, I use power pro braid which has never let me down. I will find out which one and let you know.
Anybody had any thoughts on how all 8 of us might get there yet??? Again, I know it's early but the earlier we book the cheaper it might be!
3rd to 10th July (2010) is all I know.
cheers for the braid info chaps.
Johnny and myself will be travelling down in the magical mystery bus again (all being well)
Dammit, I think ive got wot Chris had lol. That was me above.
Now you lot are just rubbing it in. Nice to see someone else loving the 5000's too eric. Good man.
You don't want to go from Dover it is about 10 hours drive!
Don't forget I Live / work over there part of the time.
I will go and have a look at the lake when i go back in October its not far from where I stay in Brittany.
portsmouth to le harve on LD lines overnight ferry is usually quite cheap thats the one I use. It will be about 5 hours drive from le havre.
Depends what time we have to be there.
Eric
Sounds good Eric, I did say its early days and im so used to going from Dover to get to Germany.
Hi Lads
Right let me try and help you out a bit. I go to this venue every year and the way I prefer to get there is Dover-Calais and drive , it take about 6 1/2 hours and is the cheapest way to go due to the low ferry crossing price as you can get some great deals by booking early. I have done the Porstmouth St Marlo crossing at night for twelve hours and I hated it but the drive time is then only two hours. Use a Tom Tom to get to Dave's and select shortest route, you will need a sat nav to save lots of "were lost Dave phone calls".
Milin-de-Ruchec is a great Carp runs water with the lake record of over 50lbs with lots of back up 20,30 and 40,s, I helped Dave stock the cats back in 2004 up to about 35lbs if my memory serves me right and they have bred, popped up livey's on the Bob Baldock rig seems to bring results at night. There is a big cat in there that has not been banked and went in in 2002/2003 at about 120lbs, I believe I hooked it in 2004 and got snapped up as I had only just started catting and had inadequate tackle to play it.
Dave is a great host with a great bar for you to relax in and get slaughtered in , sing Kareoke, play Wi and enjoy chatting about the day,s fishing (Dave stays open till you have had enough , I have rolled out of there at six in the morning lol.
There is a Swimming pool and a games room, so plenty to keep you amused if you want a break from fishing.
There are shops 10 minutes away and the main town of Lorient is about 25 mins away (Mc Donalds etc).
Lads enjoy your trip, you will and you will get hooked on the place , it is a trip to remember.
P.s. Dave extended the lake last year so it is a bit bigger than published.
Any questions post them up and I will do my best to answer.
Regards
Kev
you know that big girls got my name on it lol
You mean there is a big girl named johny ? I thought there was only one .....
Any further thoughts on the transport side of this trip ? Are others planning on taking advantage of all the tackle and food offers etc ?
On a food note I can tell you what you can't get over there like proper bacon, tea etc nearer the time.
Has anyone enquired what date it is yet?
Eric
