the strangest bait i know that has caught a cat was on the ebro and a lady i know caught a 90lb+ cat while carp fishing over a bed of maize,she caught the fish hooked in the bottom jaw on six pieces of maize.......goes to show that if their hungry they will eat probably almost anything!

Heard last year of a scandinavian angler floating down river on my stretch of the ebro [Riba Roja] in a fishing tube with flippers on spinning,
a cat came up and had a right go at one of his flippers,i think he shit himself,lol,
would of been a lifelong classic if that was caught on film!

the strangest thing i've ever seen a cat eat is a lego mans head. somone in my club saw an article in a magasine that said carp liked to take them so he put the head on one rod. within 2 hours the rod was off with a 29.

seriosly mate.i think lego does pop-up so i suppose so, as far as i know there was no flavour.
he also caught 2 tench and a smallcarp beforehand.

I have had eels on pop up sweetcorn, barbel on half lamprey, chub on elderberries and my mate had a 6lb salmon out of the swale the other week on lamprey section. Gonna have a go for carp on the fly this summer too. Anyone else with wierd and wonderfull captures?
Would love to get a wels on a lure. Had that cat from india on a lure and it was fantastic! Can recommend it to anyone!

That pic popped up a couple of years ago now - it was Pylodictis olivaris - north american flathead catfish -
as for me - I've never seen anything caught on a bait particularly odd - although I did once catch a small carp fair and square on a small silver mepps lure !!

I have heard random reports over the years of carp coming on lures. I once had a lot of success on my old river catching large roach on a no.6 shot pinched over the hook. They took it for hemp. Good laugh in clear water. I aslo used to find corned beef a good carp bait, it was all I had left in my sandwiches, lol.
