I was watching an episode of John Wilson's Go Fishing and they was using a bar of Soap as bait. Anybody else ever heard of this?
Exactly what I thought. Wasn't too sure about wether it'd do much good to the fish either.
a person fishes atthe same club as me whom is native to south africa. over there, and also in india, soap is made from natural products, whale blubber, animal fat and so on, and it is a very good cat bait because of this. in the UK soap is made from synthetic products hence it is no good for bait. if you can track down some indian soap made from whale blubber or animal fat, it is a very good catfish bait all over the world.
also, the natural soap is completely safe, a lot safer then fluro coloured boilies infact. if you tried to use UK soap as bait you wouldent get very far unfortunately.
Well said nick, you took the words right out of my mouth.
never mind the soap as bait guys, get on the herbal essences new flower flavour shampoos, it makes a great groundbait addative, it clouds up the cold water a treat and you wont need a marker float to aim for. I soak my deadbaits in it.
you took the words right out of my mouth.

Have a look at this link.
Guy a couple of years ago caught at Sale on soap.
It was not exactly the same soap as the link but was a natural African black chemical free soap with what looked like wood chippings in it.
that looks like the right stuff
