hi guys, im fairly new to this catfishing, only fished for them once at burton mere yrs ago, had a small one about 3lb and ever since i have wanted to have a go for something a tad bigger...
ive been carp/pike fishing for about 14years now and i now think im ready to retackle the mighty wels catfish. im using the winter months to research and sort out my gear for next season, any help/tips you can provide will be greatly appreciated

im from lincoln but lived in liverpool about 6yrs ago, managed a trip to the mere while i was over there, sat on the main mere in the swim mat hayes fished where he cast over to the pads.... had nowt untill someone told me that the smaller lake had some small cats in so i finished up on there and managed a 3lb kitten on luncheon meat, but i was fishing standard carp gear really and didnt know what i was doing for the cats. where u from then?

No its closed down now, He has retired & sold it to the RSPB. All the fish out of the main mere have gone to a place called Homefarm & all the fish from the woodland pool & the rest of the lakes have gone to a new fishery around the corner from me, wich is opening around March, though i dont have anymore details on prices or anything else yet.
I have seen the new venue but,I was told to sod off as its not open yet.
id of paid to be there when they netted that place, bet there were a few monsters lurking in the depths..... while i was there luke moffat was fishing it, i didnt know who he was!!!
ive since watched total fishing on the telly!
ps i heard he blanked too!!
