well guys I'm thinking of stocking up on bait for cats for this coming season what do u suggest i should get
i'm doing the same. i'm buying in a kilo of 22mm marine halibut pellets to soak in glug over winter, that way they last 30 odd hours underwater. i'm also doing some experimenting with fishmeals and milk protiens to make a bit of bait for next season.
it's worth saving up and buying in bulk if your into using boilies, i'll be investing fifty quid in ten kilos of something smelly from Destiny Baits, probably either Malarky or FBI. it makes it a lot cheaper.
already got my 22mm n 34mm halibut pellets got 5 kilo of each
thats the best part of a season's bait for me!!! are you going to soak some hookbaits? if so i can recommend BlueDragon fish sauce as it's 60% anchovie extract or dynamite baits halibut oil.
iv already got 50 pellets soaking in various oils including herring oil and dynamite halibut oil
Get out to the supermarket and start getting a lot of liver. It freezes for ever. And find a little water somewhere that nobody takes any interest in and get catching a lot of little roach and skimmers. Get your freezer sorted and claim a drawer, thats what I do and just keep it full of roach, sardines, makerel, skimmers and liver. All cracking baits. To be honest mate get stocking up on tackle first, get it now while nobody else is buying it. One bait I would suggest to get now is lamprey, loads about at the mo and if you are as lucky as me sometimes you can get your hands on live ones. If you do just seperate them into bags of 5 and throw them in the freezer even if they are still alive. Get lamps now cos in the summer they are like rocking horse shit.
aargh your ahead of me then, darn you! not getting my pellets for soaking until next week at the earliest!!!
yeah, i will be going to my secret eel water to catch some rudd on the hard days, but my freezer space is occupied with homemeade boiles at the moment!!
Keep them in a warm place, they soak so much better.
they're going to live in the airing cupboard for the next few months, the only place they'll be left alone by my dog, affectionally known as hali after his obsession with halibut pellets. should be plenty warm enough.
well iv got my own chest freezer for dead baits and what i shoot so that's sorted lol iv got so far 20 peaces of liver loads of dead sea bats and loads of dead coarse bait, and iv bin out n got loads f cat terminal tackle managed to spend £100 on just terminal tackle
Blimy Russ theres no credit crunch in your house is there lol. I can only manage two trays in the family freezer for bait and that is shared with other frozen baits for carp and pike and stuff. I have enough tackle and bits for next year, I just wish it would warm up now so I can get out after cats. Ive even left my car engine running all night to help with the global warming lol
thanks to you helping global warming i may one day have to swim madly for russia when england floods, you know!!!
iv had the freezer for ages as im a shooter so its normaly full of rabbit n game. and seem as i dont hav no bils to pay just my bord to pay then the rest of my wage is all mine lol well apart from what our lass spends,
iv had the freezer for ages as im a shooter so its normaly full of rabbit n game.-russ91
with all that smelly bait why do you need anything else? just dont start shooting at the fish when you blank.
unlike some i dont spit the dummy out when i blank lol
i resent that comment thankyou!!! i think rabbit beak could quite be the new livebait.
it was not aimed at u actualy mate
I bet the offal is a good attractor though.
