Just out of curiosity I would love to know what scales you lot use? Is it just me or do they just not make scales for us lot? Most scales only go up to 50lb but with the way things are going thats just not enough. I have found one 2 pairs of digital scales that go up to 100lb but they are stupid price. One is a set from greys and the other is rueben heatens (forgive the spelling) but they cost as much as they weigh up to.

i'm using a set of berkley digital scales at the moment but they are only supposed to weigh up to 30lb, despite weighing over 40lb accurately. if i cross my fingers and watch ebay like a hawk i might get a set of ruben heatens for my birthday,

are you using the ones that are like a pistol grip, the hook comes out the bottom of the handle and the readout is on top? there's nowhere for me to fish for cats over 60lb without buying a day ticket or driing some serios distance, so i'll see what i can get fairly cheap that only goes up to that.

They are the ones. Spot on but I would just feel a lot better if they weighed more, some of the venues I fish have fish over 50 and they are on the hit list for next year.

My fox stalker scales are ok but they only go to 55lb and they have a very bright back light. Most of the cat waters I fish have them to over 60lb but I`m yet to catch a cat over 26lb. I did look at the other scales but they do want a lot of money for them, I guess that will change when they bottom out when I`m weighing a fish

Mine too sas. I have the tackle to land a fish larger than what my scales could weigh, I think I need to get some new scales for 2009 but I do like the accreate reading of my fox scales, unlike 100lb+ ones that read in 4oz divisions.

Check out the greys digital scales or the reuben heatens digital ones. 100lb+ in 1oz divisions if I remember right.

I know that this is a very old post but I was looking to buy some new scales and did some net trolling and came across this about the ocs - 20b 120lb scales.
 www.catfish1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11155

They are no bigger than a large mobile phone blue backlight for night use.

Now tackle bargains are selling these for £29.95 but you can buy them on ebay from hong kong for about £10-12. So being an old cheap skate I thought for £10 I will have a go well I am impressed to say the least  I have weighed everything I can find on them including 25kg bag of horse food and they are spot on, bloody amazing. You can actually calibrate the things to if they go off.

They have a 9 weight memory as well. Solid ali casing so look really robust.

I took mine apart (6 screws on the back) and ran some silicon sealer all round join in the two halves of the case to make them water proof.

The only little niggle is that when using the pounds setting you get 2.5 pounds not 2lb 8oz so you have to calculate the ozs if you are that interested ie 2.9 would be 2lb 14oz etc.

Only thing was mine wre missing the instruction manual so haven't worked out how to turn on the temperature bit. Yes they even have a digital temperature guage in them and a 1 metre tape measure (bit short for me but I am sure ample for most of you here pmsl).

Eric
