Now then mate, that river rig i came up with, am trying to come up with a way of using trebles with it, The first thing that springs to mind is to loop a large elastic band over the bend of one point of the top treble and pull this through the fish as a hair. You dont have to worry then about tying a hair to the treble. You could then lip hook and place the bottom treble further down the fish. Just a thought and it will need testing.
if you wanted to use a trebble, why not tie a very long hair rig as a knotless as if the bottom hook were the only one, then crimp the trace into a loop and put a quickchange link on the end. pull the link through the bait and clip the second hook on. i do that when i make my own lures so i would hav thought it would work with this. you could use a floatstop on the trace before you crimp the loop to keep the top trebble away from the bait too. i'm going to use this variation whenever i get fishing next for pike,i'll let you know how it works.
oh and i'm gonna get a new sleeping bag for winter piking. what sort of Tog raiting would you reccommed?
would 11 be high enough?
i would sugest a 5 season sleeping bag with a thermal waterproof cover
thanks.
