Does anyone know of any zander venues in the north aside from the fens? Preferably a yorkshire venue. I know of one but the lake holding the zander is now a jet ski lake and unable fish it. I have not caught one for a few years now and fancy another crack at some.
There's a few now starting to show in the Trent but how far north they have got i do not know, haven't got a clue about any lakes or pits holding them .
I'm spoilt for choice living in Coventry, i got Coombe abbey 5 mins from my front door so after the cat rods get put away the Zed rods come out and im up there. There's some bigguns in there as well my pb is 15.8 but they have been caught up to 19+, 2 or 3 doubles in a session is not unknown here if you can locate them and find them in a feeding mood. It is by no means a easy water but when it falls right for you catches can be spectacular, plenty of pike in there as well so a usual 48 hour session will be fishing for Pike during the day and Zeds at night
Oh my friend I do believe you may have a fishing partner this autumn. I adore zeds, they dont fight great but look bloody nasty! I think they are wonderful. Its only a 2-3 hour drive for me, count me in!
Your more than welcome m8 but to night fish it you have to hold a season ticket i'm afraid, i think its 85 quid this year for 3 rods. If your into your Zander it is deffo worth the money imo
Oh I think its worth a trip or two. You will have to send me the details closer to the time mate. I am sure lophius would be up for some zed action. Count me in my friend.
All you need is here m8 although the prices are not up to date, if you need to know anything else just drop us a line

i fished coombe abbey when I was a teenager as I lived just outside coventry - used to catch a few zander although never any big ones - could be worth another investigation as its been almost 20 years since I last fished it
Re- discovered this thread. Following on from our convo at Willowbank, do you 2 fancy a crack at Coombe through the autumn and winter?
PMSL - i forgot to ask the 'boss'!!
How rude of us to invite other people onto 'his lake'!
Actually i can prove this time that you invited them first - he'll never speak to you again. Welcome to the club!! lol
Yep - I'm up for it Dave - We can have a natter tomorrow
Me too mate, how about we do a swap and I take some of you deadbaiting for chub on the swale over the winter. There are some great pike to be had too. Will discuss it tomorrow mate.
I will text you in the morning mate.
Ok mate, just had a cracking curry up in Hartlepool with big Chris so i hope Hull will follow suit and not let me down lol.
The bogs here at work have been suffering from it today Dave ![]()
Thanks very much once again
