Right fellas is anyone interested in joining me on a trip to the himalayas to do battle with the mighty goonch catfish? These catfish are nothing like you have ever seen before and have been confirmed to have actually taken humans. They grow to stupid sizes and have teeth like you would not believe. I have been obsessed with catching one for a couple of years now and if I get one then thats the main species of cats in India done for me. A trip like this is not for the faint or weak hearted. Its a lot of travelling, white water rafting between stretches of river and so on, its a life changing experience thats for sure. Now a trip like this will take a hell of a lot of planning but I already have a guide contact who knows the Khali and Gangees very well. Also we would target the Himalayan Mahseer as shown in the "wish I had Gone" topic. Because of the planning involved and my current work status I am thinking it will be at least 2 years before the trip can take place but it will be worth the wait. This will do your head in nick but you actually need shark gear for the goonch, shark rods, reels and so on as they have been recorded to over 11 foot in length and weights in excess of 500lb, all this while living in white water. Anyway if anyone is interested let me know.
why will that do my head in??? i have a shark rod anyways and i even have a multiplier!!! if it's in 2 years then i will have done 6th form by then. i saw the documentary thing on TV today with Simon Clarke and Geremy W...(how the **** do you spell his sirname???????). i'd love to do battle with one.
I have been eyeing them up for a couple of years now nick, was just making myself chuckle with the shark thing, I need a laugh at the moment. They are pig ugly but the chance to get into some of them and smoe northern mahseer is tempting. Like I said I know a guide out there who can sort it all for us. Its not cheap but its a once in a lifetime thing. If anyone is seriously interested let me now and I will start making enquiries.

any idea roughly how much it's going to be? if i'm gonna have to start saving now, i want to know how bigg a piggybank to get, lol.
Last I heard 2 weeks in the himalayas with misty, who is an exceptional guide, was costing about a grand to 1200 quid. Now I i did say its not cheap but thats a lot cheaper than going to south india for the mahseer there. The price includes everything while you are there, food, guides, people to massage you and shave you, whitewater rafting, bait etc. Then there is the plain ticket and the gear you need so it may add up to about 2 grand, thats why I am putting 2 years on it. Will e-mail stew now and try and get an accurate price for there last trip the other week. Trust me though its the trip of a lifetime and you wont regret it at all!!!!

Well no worries mate. I would think the total would come to just under 2 grand but I am deadly serious about this trip and would love some of you lads to join me.

Looks fantastic mate but unfortunately not for me as I buggered my hip a while back falling of a ladder so I am severely restricted in the distance I can walk without taking a break. I would love to go but not possible I am afraid but good luck.

Well lokks like this trip will have to wait as I have just been reminded we are getting married that year, cant believe I forgot! lol. Those interested keep it in mind and we will get there eventually. Ebro with dan I think.
