Well lads hope you haven't all lost interest but lost the lead for the camera that downloads the pics but I have found it so here is my very simple rig that has caught me 99% of all the cats I have landed including my pbs 2 X 35 and 1 X 36-3.

Note the small piece of poly tube over the quick change link that I was explaining about a week or so ago stops the tangles and buy by the metre at bq cheap as chips.
The rig on show is set up for worms but use the same rig for dead bait and live baiting just add a hair to the same size hook. Took all 3 of my big girls on this rig with a hair rigged live bait.

Thats the thing with cat rigs they are either stupidly simple or massively complicated. have you ever had any problems with the quick change links mate? Have seen them snap before on big fish.

Nope as I said I use the oval key ring type ones can't remember who makes them, will look next time I am in the shop but had loads of over 20's on them and no damage at all and the tube keeps everything in line. I have seen them bend out before when the swivel gets caught in the wrong place but this set up keeps it all nice and straight.Use two swivels as you can see and that evens out the pressure.
Worth a go mate so simple nothing to go wrong really and the cats like it too.

i think the breakages you are talking about Karl are where the swivel manages to half wayexit the Korda quickchange links. then there's only half as much metal as there should be keeping the catfish attached. this set-up looks as though it would prevent that. i'm defo gonna gethold of some of this cheap tubing you use, Eric.

Take your link with you Nick so you get the right dia for a tight fit.It should jam at the wide end. Then when you want to change anything you slide the green stop back and slide it off onto the line.Great in the dark cos you don't loose the damn things cos they are on the line.

I think it was just the fact that evo was putting so much pressure on the fish to get it out of a snag that it was either the rod or the link that snapped. Good job I managed to get it in the net as it went.
