has anyone used superglue to stiffen braid? i heard off sombody i met whilst fishing that it stops tangles if you smear some on the line, or wil the smell scare the fish?
kryston do a special stuff mate that makes it stiff but ones in water goes supple again that the stuuf you want its called super stiff anti tangle gel
cheers, i hadn't heard of that but i was thinking more along the lines of using normal glue coz it stays stiff under water for a stiffer presentation for a sort of anit-eject rig, without the coated braid.
ty for replying btw. atb.
never used it except for glueing on dog biscuits to the hook
Had a thought today mate about this one, what about heat shrink tube over the hooklink?
that would make it nice an stiff wouldnt it?
i had thought of using rig tubing, but i struggle to fit the high diamiter braid through the tiny hole.
lol its always a tight fit but we get there in the end m8
lol. no comment. i'm looking at a little threading needle for getting braid mainlines through tubing i might invest in one.
With the heat shrink you can use a size thats fits over comfortably and reduces down over the swivel eye and hooklink. Am gonna be giving it a blast next weekend on my subsurface livey rig.
i might try it next season, but stiffened braid works surprisingly well. i used cheepie Tesco superglue to stiffen some 15lb braid for carp tomorrow. looks lovely, and i'm soaking it in halibut pellet oil overnight to get rid of the horrible stench. other then the smell it works better then i expected. i would love to be fitting in one last cat session, but i'm gonna have to wait til saturday fot that. i'll post how well (or badly) it works tomorrow.
us lads with the 12.5m poles have a wire to thread the elastic through the pole sections have a look maybe what your after
good idea, i think it maybe th same thing, just in different packaging mate. i usually just post some mono through my pole and tie it onto the elastic, though, so i don't know how well it works.
dunno alot about this rig but sounds like ure onto a good un nick
it works quite well. i had three bream and lost a mudpig, oh well. it's a tricky lake anyways. the smell din put them off and i wacked a single 14mm hookbait 90 odd yards without a tangle, so it's looking good. the only trouble might be the long term affects on the braid as it damages light mono a lot.
just had a 14lb mudpig on 15lb glue stiffened braid, because the cat lake was litterally full, so the smell dosen't worry them.
a common, m8. nice change from the untold thousands of bloody obese mirrors known as semos, lol.
