Flavours and Scent Trails

Just wanted to do a quick survey to find out what flavours, additives or scent trails people use, if any, and what you wouldnt be without on a cat session. Myself I will not leave home without my herring oil and syringe. I also take some emulsified trout oil. I use this not for injecting but to pour on the bait as its a lot thicker and doesnt release well when injected into a bait. Good as a scent trail though.

i would never go without good old 22mm halis for cats, but i love to use richworth Ultraplex and cod liver oil to soak hookbaits in, otherwise they dissove after a couple of hours.

Hi All
Try the HKG and HLB glugs , not only are they great attractors but slow down the breakdown time of all pellets as they include herring oil

I tried some god-awful-smelling halibut liquid my local shop has in stock ........ it really stinks.

Over the winter I will be stocking up on scents and oils for injecting deads - have heard herring and salmon oils work well

Not quite yet Karl but on the way mate, My season started & finished in April by the look of it.
The only things i use tends to be halibut oil & Kev's HLB/HLG glugs & your herring oil apart from that its mainly natural for me.

The halibut pellet oil is great, barbel love baits soaked in it, not tried it for the cats yet. Still cant beat the herring oil for me but i fancy giving the mackerel oil a go.

i reckon the crab/salmon shipmans pastes are really great too and i've taken a few cats and carp on pellets covered in it. never thought of using halibut pellet oil for barbel though.

Me and my mate took 12 barbel up to ten pound and lost as many in one hour fishing on the dove next to a sunken tree, all on e feeder full of small pellets and hemp and a glugged bait on the hook. Fantastic morning that was. If you fish boilies for cats then what about getting some of the biggest size halibut boilies and glugging them over the winter in pellet oil. Put them somewhere warm and they soak it in a lot better.

good idea, m8. i've got loads of dynamite bais halibut oil left over, some ultraplex and gallons of cod liver oil. i'll but a kilo of pellets and drill them for over winter. i know just the place to store them, too.

Its worth doing it with the boilies too, glugging the pellets wont stop them breaking down eventually but with the boilies you only have to scrape the outer layer off and the oils get released all over again. Have you tried the elipse pellets for cats?
