i am cool as long as our lass dont drag me on another holiday stupid tart eating in to my fishing time
I should (hopefully) be able to get there even if its only for a day (we are talking next year are'nt we) - depends on 'er in doors and how she will be coping with the 2nd sprogg.
i'll get there on wat everday ya's decide
Am trying to get it sorted for the end of august/ beginnig of september. Will anyone have a problem with it being midweek? Say a thursday night, friday night, home saturday?
No probs here though , we do generally go away the last bank holiday in August so that could be a prob for me.
OK by me although if I am still with my present job I can book the time off. If I get my new job I will be on the banks of the ebro as there is 12 months training in Spain zaragoza
no problem here with them sorta days
As things start moving on this I will post up some ideas for dates and you can all give me some feedback. Dont worry tel I will stay away from the bank holiday, I dont think we can push the other halves that far.
I dont think we can push the other halves that far.
I know where i would like to push her....
sounds good to me guys im a member of another general fishing forum and we hav a social every couple of month bivvying out for the weekend and i hav to say not only do they bring us closer together like a family they are a grate laff normally hav a BBQ one night with a few beers and just get to know each other infact i went on a small social yesterday with a few of the local lads after pike.
Thats the general plan, although a few of us have fished together already it will be a great chance for us all to meet up and exchange notes so to speak. And we get away from it all for a couple of days and get to chat about cats without being told to shut up or seeing that glazed look come over someones face!
Would love to join you on the fish in and try a new water any room left for a northern monkey?
one hell of a trip for you.
Will find a venue that can take every member dont worry. Am working on it at the mo and will keep you all informed.
Ok happies the venue search is doing my head in, I may have to forget about my main target as it has a major event on tright at the time i wanted to book it. I dont suppose you lot would appreciate me putting us on a venue the week afetr it has been hammered. Have been having a few thoughts on this subject now though and may have come up with some very good ideas, would love to know what you all think. As our membership seems to be growing quickly over these slow months am starting to struggle to think of venues that can take 30+ people. The only way I can think to do the main fish in is to pick a venue that can take about twenty and do like kev is doing and pairing up. If you all fancy it we can run it as a social with a small competetive ellement? Let me know. This however is not my main brainwave. The main one is to do a couple of smaller events on a regional basis. As we have a lot of northern based members then a yourkshire based event, and a southern based event depending on where all you southern softies are and what venues we can get hold of. Obviously the regionals are not rigid, and any member is invited however of the top of my head we could run a scenario where the 3 fish ins are on a competion basis and the winners of the 2 regionals get first pick of pegs for the main fish in etc. These are just ideas i came up with while having a fag this morning so your feedback is important. As i said the 2 regionals would not be rigid so you could fish them both or neither of them. This site is all inclusive so if you only wanted to fish one of the 3 then no worries, everyone is invited to all of the get togethers and the only fees would be venue fees. Am sure whatever venues we chose i can organise some sort of discount for a block booking. Also be warned the venues are unlikely to be easy, nobody learns anything by commercial style catfish fishing. These places are great for major events and we all love them as it enables us all to catch fish but when I came up with the fish in idea the main thought behind it was for us all to meet up and learn from each other. I want to do these events on venues where its hit and miss, proper cat venues, so that means we wont be on willowbank lads by the way! Please dont start spouting off I am not knocking these types of venues, I love them but I think what I am trying to say is we will be on venues where you turn up hoping to catch not expecting to catch if you know what I mean. Anyway I have gone on enough, feedback required please people.
i like the idea of regional venues. as for fishing harder venues, be a good way to improve skills, they may be, but what about us that usually fish rock hard waters?
i'll have an ask around for a venue local to me, i'm thinking maybe Willowbank or Stubpond for the southern 'softies' social. i'm checking out Stub this xmas, it sounds big enough and it's owned by a guy rather then a team, club, ect so discount is always on the cards.
All cat waters are hard, some harder than others. I have to think of all members and I think a "normal" water would benefit the lads that are new to it more than an overstocked underfed water. It ups the skill levels of everyone and makes you think a lot more about the water and what the cats are likely to be doing and where they are likely to be if you know what I mean. The members who have not caught many cats will benefit from the more experienced members on a harder water I think.
