im trying out a new venue and using different baits to identify what works best on this given pond, iv heard of liquidized liver on another site and think its a great idea and will be trying it next weekend as im not allowed to use grounbait. does anyone know what hook bait it will compliment? also any other winning combinations for dead baiting course fish and hallibut pellet hook baits? cheers EVO
Hello Evo why not use it with a good size chunck of liver?? You could freeze it in to balls/blocks to create one hell of a scent trail??
That is a blinding idea and i cant believe i didnt think of that before. You could use a standard ice cube bag, the ones you fill from the tap, seal and freeze. Great idea, they would catapult like bullets. How about fishing lamprey section, lamprey and liver as loose feed and these blocks thrown in at regular intervals. It has got to be a winner. Not just a pretty face are you! ha ha!
Only one small prob Karl ...they may float, the solution maybe is to place some stones in the balls, cubes, etc to ensure it does sink.
But yes your right its a blinding idea... its what you expect from a genius.
Terry
i like it just liquidized 5 packs of liver and they are now freezing into little bomblets, gona use them tomorrow.
was thinking next time possibly adding a little salmon oil etc to the next batch.
will let you know how they go. cheers
You certainly are that young man! The thing is if it works at all then you can use any variant of additive you want. Its a shame you couldnt pva bag them at all, unless you painted them in trout oil or something similar. think i will leave chris evo to do the messy work and will pinch some off him tommorow, our lass would go nuts watching me putting liver in the blender, its an expensive blender! Ha Ha. Fishing with Evo tomorrow night at a place out near nornsea called fosse hill. Cats up to fourty. Will keep you all informed.
Ok chaps let me know how you 2 get on with it, good luch & see ya soon.
That liver worked a treat. Chris will tell you all about it. He kciked my ass last night. Didnt get a touch and the only thing we were fishing different was he was using this liquid liver. Smae hookbaits, everything and I got my ass kicked!
yes its true i kicked ass the frozen liquidized liver bombs worked a treat.
i blended 5 packs of liver and poured them into sandwich bags to hold their shape.i made them the size of tennis balls and they remained semi solid for around 7hrs in a cool box with ice packs.
the balls became more effective after a few hours in the cool box as to begin with they floated, when semi solid the balls sunk like stones exploding into a great scent cloud.
i over came the floating problem by balling them into the side of a reed bed of which held them in place perfectley.
the cats were well confused they were in and out turning over the reeds for most of the day searching for the source of the blood. it managed to hold the cats in one place for over nine hours resulting in 6 runs and 1 catch.
the following day obviousley i had no liver as it had all melted only resulted in 1 run, i think that speaks for itself.
cheers for your ideas everyone if anyone has a go please tell me your ideas of how to perfect it. all in all a great result for the bait forum and a pb for me,cheers again evo
Glad i could be of some help, sounds like you had a cracking session Chris ....may even give it a go myself.
i fished the same swim after chris for a two nighter and the cats where still in the reeds but could i hell hook one i did think of some thing that worked beeing a carp angler i had to use the method feeder. I mashed a load of dead roach up and added some partical and a sprinkle of ground bait as u can use it in the feeder and a little oil.i made the feeder free running and used a small roach as a hook bait and managed the same small kitten i had a month and its now 6 lb will be using it a willow bank when me and carl make the trip in september COME ON lets see if i can kick karls on his home turf
o its coming kid 2 days to go and i will be hauling them in
hi evo. what site did you hear about the liquidised liver from? i posted on the catfish forum a few weeks ago. anyway, i use liquidised liver alot and a chunk of liver in the area is surprisigly unsucessful. the best hookbait is a pop-up boilie when your fishing over a big bed of bait like that.
i never thought of liquidising liver into blocs but i have used frozen squid and octopus CSL to great effect. don't bother with freezing stones into the ice cubes though, lol, just drill then out really carefully with a 1mm pellet drill and slide then up the hooklink, then cast out and make sure the line is really tight if your usng a runing lead. the ice cubes melt and the attraction leaks out that way, rather then go to all the hastle.
Well I got to admit I never used it like you have.
I have cut it into small pieces with squid dead maggots and splattered worms mixed with sunflower oil and salmon oil, with a big bag of halibut groundbait and mixed it up put in freezer its still sort of solid when I got to the place I fished.
Made cricket size balls it was in a state of a paste but still had to thaw more, few balls around my bait and the oil just kept releasing up to the surface and flattened it.
Had 6 runs in a night but pulled on them all I know what I did wrong but none the less its my plan of attack on my next trip.
I am on the same lines as you dave, was thinking of using it but taking it in liquid form and just wixing it with fish meal and hali pellet gruondbait and just balling it in. Maybe adding some trout, salmon and herring oil too. Anybody use the herring oil, Its fantastic! Everybody has there own preference i know but i dont leave the house without my herring oil and a syringe. Brilliant just injected into half deadbaits! Had three cats on the same dead one night just re-injecting it.
nice result. i used vision baits CSL squid and octopus with sprats for pike and cats, but a copper walked down the path and conviscated the syringe it was so imbrissing i havent tried it again! lol
Its too good not to try again just put the damn thing away when you have used it!!!
i do. i reuse the needle by washing it, im not a litterer
